FocusPoint Linux is no more

Announcement

After a little over two years we have now decided to close down this project. This is due to little interest for a purely open source project for photographers, all in all there is a huge interest for AI powered tools for photographers, this is unfortunate in too many ways to mention without making political and ethical statements.

We wanted to make an easy and user-friendly operating system for photographers with all the tools you would need, something we succeeded in doing in our opinion.

We will share the source for our welcome tool/extra control app.

  1. I’ve been trying to work out which version of Linux to install.
I found out about FocusPoint Linux via a comment under https://discuss.pixls.us/t/what-linux-distribution-do-you-prefer-and-why/43726/91 – your comment really resonated, so I’ll be installing it as my first experience of Linux. I’ve been using Darktable on Windows for over a year and have been wanting to get off Windows for as long. Hope the project lives on and gets an occasional update – I suspect there is more interest than you think in open source – especially by people who are looking for ways to get away from Windows bloatware and spyware.
