About focuspoint linux: focuspoint Linux is a Xfce4 distro/respin designed for Photographers: professional or amateurs.
You can use this operating system for anything really, and it will work nicely for both everyday use and for gaming, you decide what you will use it for.
This project is based on Xubuntu, we have added many packages to make it real easy to get started working with your photographs. We have also done a few underlying tweaks to xubuntu to make it work better for a photographers workflow.
Some programs you can find in Focus Point is gimp, darktable, lightzone, rawtherapee, gimp, luminance hdr, shotwell (manage photo library) and many other useful apps.
Why base focuspoint-linux on (x)Ubuntu? For us this decision was a no brainer, we wanted to create a really solid and stable respin/distro (whatever you wan’t to call it)
Ubuntu is a very stable os, you can expect few problems with a (x)Ubuntu base. Xfce is also very stable and pretty lightweight and has very few problems.
We will soon project a KDE based system as well, this OS will have the same content/apps as focuspoint linux.
